The Kaitiaki of the Skink Garden- Waireka Toru

Hard working students of Waireka Toru planted the skink friendly plants ready for feeding and protecting our local treasures.

The Cloak of Protection

Game week this week...so far we have played 125 games. The prizes we have won are gardening labels, gardening gloves, some seeds and a gardening tool. We were also lucky enough to have JiL Hemming visit. JiL is the creator of the game and enjoyed being beaten by Max! It was great to be able to ask her questions and to share our enthusiasm. Thanks for coming JiL and thanks for designing such an exciting and educational game.

Plants for Survival

Peter from Plants for Survival visited school today to donate some skink friendly  plants including mimgimingi. He dug holes in preparation for Waireka Toru (the kaitiaki of the skink garden) to plant tomorrow.
Peter can be contacted at peter@tfsnz.org.nz, he is interested in donations to help him continue with his good work.  Thank you for your kind donation Peter!

Hosting St Francis Xavier School

We had the pleasure of hosting St Francis Xavier School today. It was very exciting to share our hard work and knowledge with such interested children. Thanks for coming St Francis Xavier.

Ra Roa Reserve Clean Up

What a day!
Well done those who turned up to help. We managed to make a big difference. A huge pile of rubbish was removed, skinks and weta found, sausages eaten and fun had.
A big thank you to Porirua City Council, Gay Hay, Kate Dreaver and Ted Coates (and anyone else I have forgotten) and a special big thank you to those who turned up to be a part of the claen up. Estimates were there were up to 70 people there! AMAZING!
